THE CYCLES OF HISTORY

A few weeks ago, Fr. Pierre Champoux was listening to Fr. Ripperger’s latest clip on the state of the world and sent us his thoughts about it all. Marcel and I thought it was succinct, well presented and very accurate. He very graciously gave us permission to print the contents of his email:
I find it interesting how cyclical history is.
1. God offers His People a Covenant of love and protection.

2. After a honeymoon period, we replace God with idol worship; self worship, materialism, the State or cult leader, an evil ideology like Communism, and other such things.

3. In love, God sends warnings through the prophets and other various means (signs in nature, etc.)

4. God sends a chastisement on the world as a corrective to cleanse the world of evil. This corrective often begins through a social chastisement as for example the burning of books, the cancellation of good people from social media, the harm caused to reputations which is followed by physical chastisements such as lynching, destruction of property, murder, general chaos of social structures, natural disasters, and the manifestation of the diabolical.

5. Following God’s chastisement and the purification of God’s people, comes a time of Restoration. As in the Days of Elijah, God wants His People to return to Him and worship Him alone. Our faith cannot be compartmentalized.
When we return to God, our finances, spiritual life, personal relationships, and interests are ordered under God. In other words, the period of restoration is a time when we are living in peace with God, which is another way of saying that we’re living in right relationship with the God Who loves us. The great side effect of living in peace with God, is that we’re living in peace with our brothers and sisters. In this, I’m reminded of what Fr. Bob used to say when individuals, parishes and nations give God permission to lead the show. Nothing short of the end of Satan’s reign and the enthronement of God’s peaceful rule.
Fr. Pierre
