"The Lion and the Dog" Dream

The particular dream that I'm about to recount was a disturbing and difficult one. The Lord gave it to me at the beginning of June 2018, which was a few weeks after our return to Ottawa from Brantford (The timing of a dream is often important!). It is a dream that I've pondered and prayed about regularly without understanding the whole message, but perhaps recent events are beginning to shed some light.
I was aware of being in a house and a dog was with me. This dog looked very much like Milou (Snowy) in Tintin and I decided that it would be a good idea if it went outside in the backyard. I opened the back door and let him go out onto the green grass. The sun was shining; it was a beautiful day.

A little while later, I wanted to check on the dog so I went out into the back yard. But all was changed. What used to be grass was now sandy gravel. A lion, with his back to me, was at the far end of the yard roaring very loudly and aggressively.

Then I saw a man arrive, accompanied by a few other people. They got out of their expensive, black limousine and this man began to walk around the property with 2 or 3 small dogs in his arms. He was happy and smiling and the dogs were happy and smiling. They all knew themselves to be safe from the lion because they were friends with him. The man looked around and intuitively, I knew that this man had every intention of raising a building on this property which he now truly believed belonged to him. I also knew that he was a "bad and evil man".

I then quickly looked around and saw my dog lying on the ground. The lion had killed him. I got down on my knees beside the dog, crying, wailing, and pounding the ground in sheer pain. "Why?" was the only word I could get out. "Why was the dog killed?" There was so much sorrow, grief and anger. The emotions were almost overwhelming!

When I got up that morning, I immediately wrote the dream down and at the end of my prayer-time, I asked the Lord for guidance. I opened up my bible and this is the first thing I saw:

Ezekiel 22: 25, 30-31
In you, the priests are like a roaring lion tearing its prey. They have eaten the people, seized wealth and jewels and widowed many inside her.

I have been looking for someone among them to build a barricade and oppose me in the breach, to defend the country and prevent me from destroying it; but I have found no one.

Five days later, I was bringing this dream to the Lord and once again, asked Him to help me understand. I opened my bible and lo and behold, opened to: Ezekiel 22: 23-31!! The same scripture!

Almost 3 months later, at the end of August, I was re-reading my dream and asking the Lord for more insight and then closed my dream journal to move on to something else. I picked up my bible to finish off my prayer time and once again, just simply opened it. I was amazed! I had opened it to the very same passage: Ezekiel 22: 23-31.

I don't yet understand all the symbolism in the dream, but I do know this. The Lord wants an army of seasoned prayer warriors, intercessors and worshippers who will come against the growing darkness in our land, in our world and in our church.
And I have come to better understand this concept: That in reality, so much is symbolically or literally linked to the reality of land ownership. In Genesis 3, God gives us the earth and commands us to have dominion over all of His creation. This means having dominion over the actual land in order to establish God's kingdom on earth, to make the earth beautiful, to subdue it and make it thrive. This dominion is to be both temporal and spiritual.

The Israelites were promised a very real, physical land...the Promised Land. They were to rule over this land and have dominion over it. In order to gain a foothold in this Promised Land, Abraham bought a plot of land from the Hittites (Genesis 23:17-20). This was no mere insignificant gesture; it was loaded with meaning. Abraham, who believed in God's promises, made an act of faith, believing that the whole land would one day belong to him and his descendants. He now had a foothold in that territory. He had obtained "real estate".

Churches are built on land and as such, are not just mere buildings. They do provide shelter for worshippers but they also declare that the particular plot of land belongs to them and to God, which in turn enables them to freely practice their beliefs. For example, at the time of the Reformation in England, Henry VIII made a land grab and took over most of the Catholic churches and dissolved all the monasteries. He stole the land and gave it to his followers, thus establishing his rule, his dominion and his ideology in England, which still exist to this day.

The White Tower, part of the Tower of London, built in 1066.

Armies invading other countries don't simply want the resources or the people from that country but they want to occupy the land. And if they win the war, what is one of the first things that they do? They plant a flag of their country...a highly symbolic gesture that brings about a very literal outcome. They then go on to establish their faith by erecting statues and temples on the land that they have gained, thus enabling their ideologies and their politics to proliferate in that land. And when that happens, they usually go on to take over more and more ground.

When William the Conqueror came to England and won the battle of Hastings in 1066, one of the first things he did was to build castles on the land that he had won. Within months! He was declaring loud and clear that the land now belonged to him and that his politics would now rule over this conquered land.

This concept shows up even in our sports such as football! The whole idea of this game is to gain more ground which is often described as "gaining real estate". If the team is successful, they get their prize: a touchdown.

Turning to Canada, we see a disturbing trend of churches being vandalized and burned. At last count, around 85 churches have been destroyed, with our government doing nothing about it. What is this saying and where is this leading us?
Since I've had the dream, so many changes have come to our country. We are no longer the same nation that we were even 10 years ago. We have been slip-sliding into a totalitarian system for decades now, but this ideology is growing steadily. Also, belief systems that are absolutely foreign to Christianity have been invading our cities and gaining ground by literally taking over and occupying certain sectors of these cities.

So in my dream, I do understand that the devil (the roaring lion) wants to destroy what is pure and holy (white dog) to provide an opportunity for evil men to come and turn fertile, green land into a sandy, arid area where they will erect their towers of commerce, their temples and their buildings in order to further their ideologies and their plans of dominance. These men will be influenced by the devil who will be working through them and they will kill and destroy whoever and whatever gets in their way. These are men who will gain "real estate" literally and spiritually because they will believe that they have a right to do whatever they want! So in the dream, the man is probably symbolic of political and religious elite forces that are decimating our country and intending to establish "foreign" ideologies that are incompatible with the foundational principles of our nation. And this is going on all around the world.
I also understand the scripture passage in Ezekiel; the Lord is looking for those who see what is happening, who grieve over the state of things and who will be moved to do something about it. He needs the "watchmen on the wall" to sound the alarm and to call the "army" to respond, so that the land isn't taken over by "anti-christ" ideologies and policies that lead away from the true faith and from our true King, the Lord Jesus.
But this Marcel and I know: We have the real lion with us. The Lion of the tribe of Judah. He will roar and He will come. But in the meantime, we also are called to become lions, just like Him. To have a lion's heart. Marcel and I call ourselves the "old, seasoned, lions" and we know God is looking for seasoned veterans as well as the "young lions" who will come alongside to push back the darkness and gain ground for the Kingdom of God.

We also try to remember that although we are the Church Militant, we have the Church Suffering and the Church Triumphant praying with us and for us. They too are part of the army! And so are our guardian angels and all the good angels who work to establish God's Kingdom on this earth and especially here, in Canada and in Ottawa, our nation's capital.

We do have more insight into some of the symbolic elements of this dream, and there is still much that is somewhat veiled. However, the heart of the dream has been understood: that the battle - both spiritual and temporal - is to the death. And the Lord has given the solution through the scripture in Ezekiel: that intercessors, with much courage, are greatly needed so that the "land" - spiritual and temporal - remains under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Canada IS being taken over. Let's mobilize and pray. Let's call on past generations who established the faith in our land to pray for us, let's call on St. Joseph who is the patron saint of our nation and let's also call on Our Lady, through whom the Canadian bishops consecrated our nation to Jesus Christ our Lord back in 2017. These prayers should and will avail much!

As always, we appreciate your insights and your comments.
Isaiah 62:6
On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Deuteronomy 8:7-10
But Yahweh your God is bringing you into a fine country, a land of streams and springs, of waters that well up from the deep in valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley, of vines, of figs, of pomegranates, a land of olives, of oil, of honey, a land where you will eat bread without stint, where you will want nothing, a land where the stones are iron and where the hills may be quarried for copper. You will eat and have all you want and you will bless Yahweh your God in the fine country which he has given you.
