Gather - April 23, 2025

When believers gather together to seek the Lord and offer Him the praise that is His due, good things happen! The Lord is always pleased to draw near to us and speak into our lives when we give Him that opportunity.  That has certainly been our experience over the past three months.

In the summer of 2008 Linda received a short but clear prophetic word from the Lord: "Gather the army". In all honesty, we had no idea what the Lord meant by that. What kind of army? When do we gather this army? Where? How? What do we do with it once it is gathered? We have been praying about this word and waiting on the Lord for greater understanding about it all these years.

We're happy to say that the Lord has begun giving us some clarity about several aspects of this particular assignment. The time to gather is now. The place to gather (currently) is St Elizabeth's parish in Ottawa. And the army gathers once a month. We've had three such gatherings already and will gather again on Wednesday, May 28th.

We gather because we believe that the Lord wants us to. It's as simple as that. We gather to seek His face and give Him praise; two things that every believer can benefit from. All are welcome.

Those who have gathered with us thus far, are for the most part, what we would call "seasoned warriors" who have known and loved the Lord faithfully for many years. And they have confirmed  for us that the Lord is very present and at work in our midst when we gather.

Over the past few decades Linda and I have noticed that there are far fewer opportunities for Catholics to gather and praise God with wholehearted freedom and enthusiasm. Evidently the grace of the Catholic charismatic renewal that so many of us were blessed by has diminished greatly. But the need for us to gather and praise the Lord in that way has not. Our monthly gatherings endeavour to respond to that need, and provide an opportunity to "rekindle into flame" (2 Tim 1:6) the joy, the fire and passion of a life lived in the grace and power of the Holy Spirit.

As we've explained to those present at our evenings, whenever we gather we have a confident expectation that the Lord will speak to us. Our experience in this kind of ministry over the past 30+ years, as well as numerous accounts in Sacred Scripture confirm that God greatly desires to speak to us. Such was the case again last month.

PROPHETIC WORDS/IMAGES:

During the quieter worship time, Chris Zettel (who sings and plays keyboard on our ministry team) shared this sense with us:

"The Lord is ministering to our hearts and has already begun to pour out His Spirit upon us. He wants us to get in touch with our hunger and thirst for more of Him. The more we know our hunger and thirst for Him, the more we should cry out to Him and ask for more."

Nearing the latter part of the evening Linda shared with us that she had had a very strong sense of:

...the presence of 'warrior' angels posted all around the perimeter of the assembly; angels who had been sent by God to protect us as we praised and worshiped the Lord.

We are seeking the Lord for understanding of the image given to Meagan, a non-Catholic sister in the Lord who has gathered to praise with us the past two months:

...a man (symbolic of an angel) on horseback was swinging a lasso as he rode towards the city. He reined in when he reached the city limits and asked, 'How can I help you?'

Join us for our next GATHER evening on Wednesday, May 28th, at 7:15 pm, at St Elizabeth parish in Ottawa
