The Cowboy at Our City Gates

Our April "Gather" was truly a beautiful evening of praise and worship and God was kind enough to grant us a few words.  However, because Marcel and I got really sick a few days later and were out of commission for many weeks, we weren't able to share with you what the Lord spoke to His people on that evening.

Megan McBain has been attending our evenings from the very beginning, and even though she is not Catholic, she has been enjoying them tremendously and has been graced by God to move in the revelatory gifts, thus blessing us all.  She shared with us a vision she received and we now share it in the hopes that it will encourage you and that you will perhaps have some insight to share into its meaning.

The words the Lord sends us aren't just meant to be heard and then to be put aside and forgotten but they are meant to be pondered over time.  These words are part of God's plan to guide us and to reveal His will for us.  They are alive and active and even though they may remain somewhat of a mystery to us, they do accomplish what they were sent for, in due time.  They are deep and can often be multi-levelled, thus bringing a richness of interpretation that can touch each and every one of us.

Megan's vision on that evening was the following:

She saw a cowboy on a horse twirling a lasso in his left hand.  He stopped just outside of the city (Ottawa) and said:

"What can I do for you?"

When I first heard the word, I thought that perhaps the cowboy was symbolic of an angel sent by the Lord on a particular mission to Ottawa and I continued to pray into this word for a few weeks without getting any further revelation.

It was only when Marcel met with Jeff Haydt later on that things became clearer.  Jeff had attended the evening and right away he had thought "This is pretty clear!  I'm sure everyone knows what this means!"  Well I sure didn't! 🙂, so we asked Jeff to share his own insights and this is what he wrote:

It was the image of the lasso that made me think it was an Angel from western Canada, here to set straight the people, and I particularly thought of young men who were being oppressed with hopelessness. And that this angel could also undo some of the willful blindness that was driving other voters. [The evening was held 5 days before our national elections]  I shared with you the thoughts about how we are “given over” here in Ottawa. I didn’t really sense that the angel was here to help with that, but rather to make sure that those who were discouraged, blinded, or on the fence could be spiritually helped to vote, and to vote against the people acting in accord with the spiritual oppression.

What Jeff wrote had me thinking along the lines of a kind of "spirit" that the Lord might want us to have.  It made me think of Alberta and what is going on there.  There have been many prophecies about Alberta coming alive in the Lord with some kind of revival and I thought that perhaps the angel was symbolic of that spirit; a spirit that isn't afraid and that can "lasso" the enemy and "bring him down".  In line with what Jeff received, Ottawa is "given over" and since it's the capital of our country, the enemy is very active in trying to implant his own demonic agenda at all levels of government.  The cowboy seemed to be a new, refreshing and even joyful kind of spirit, sent by God to bring us encouragement and strength of purpose.

Interestingly, just before Megan shared her vision, I had been sensing the presence of an angel standing in the aisle to my right and facing forward.  I "saw" only his torso which was covered with a brown leather armour and I could also see his sword which he was holding, with the point resting on the ground.  â€‹I knew he was a warrior or protecting angel.  I further sensed the presence of 2 other of these angels in the sanctuary and a few more in the church.

It seems that the Lord wants to let us know that His plan for the city, for our country and especially for each one of us personally, does include angels and that He is sending them out on mission to help us establish His kingdom here on earth, in these very troubled times.

Psalm 91:11

He has given his angels orders about you

to guard you wherever you go.

Hebrews 1:14

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
